new student emails

November 20, 2009

Beginning with the Spring 2010 semester, there will be a new student email system in place. This new email system, Outlook Live@edu, offers students a much larger inbox, with optional features such as online storage, as well as collaboration and social networking tools. Students will begin using their new email on January 5, 2010. ** The University faculty and staff email system and email addresses will remain the same: @mailbox.sc.edu. University student email is the only system that is changing.**

What’s changing:
Students will have a new email address: NETWORKUSERNAME@email.sc.edu (substituting the network username). Any email sent to an @mailbox.sc.edu account will be forwarded to the @email.sc.edu account during the Spring 2010 semester. Students will need to change their network username password BEFORE using the new system. This can be done through VIP – Technology tab.

Students can login to their new student email account on January 5th, 2010 by going to www.sc.edu/studentemail .

For students who also work at the University:
Students who also work at the University will retain their @mailbox.sc.edu mail for work and should begin using their Outlook Live@edu account for student correspondence. E-mails sent to @mailbox.sc.edu will NOT be automatically forwarded to your Outlook Live@edu account.

Connections on catalog only computers

November 2, 2009

On Saturday the stand-up catalog only computer wasn’t working. Rebooting did nothing. Randy told me on Monday that the ethernet was loose. Monday night neither catalog only computer was loading the catalog. Jammed the cable in and all is working now.

Obvious troubleshooting, but I hadn’t thought of it (mb)

Mac Lab, no print box problem

September 16, 2009

the solution to that “no print box” problem we’ve seen in the Mac Lab is a hard reboot, which you do by pressing the power button located on the back left side of the monitor.

FYI in case we are asked for assistance if no staffer there or anyone in level 3 who can come up.

School of Pharmacy, joint program and library resources

September 2, 2009

This is the webpage that shows (with the little lettered circle) what databases are accessed via MUSC [M] and USC [U] for this program.

http://www.library.musc.edu/page.php?id=524&ID=7

As Andrea understands this, the student has two different IDs so if a database is provided by MUSC they need to use that ID and login procedure.

URL found a couple of layers in from the School of Pharmacy’s website.
